Manon Boutillez Guer – Rayon de Lumiere, Solera, Magnum

Legal papers show that Boutillez Family was already present in this Village 5 centuries ago… For generations, the Boutillez family has been producing Champagne in Villers-Marmery. Marc Boutillez was the head of the family Domain Boutillez-Guer, his Daughter Manon stepping out of his shadow has now taken over the Family business, bringing younger, expressive and organic methods. Initially expecting a nurse/medical career, she finaly decided to pursue the Family destiny in 2019. With, indeed, a great success. In 2021, at the 10th edition of the young talent competition Les Jeunes Talents du Champagne, Manon Boutillez became the winner in the chardonnay category

Under her own name now, Manon Boutillez has launched a series of promising Champagnes with distinctive characters, personalities and spirits, featuring colorful & stylish labels.

Altought located in the Montagne de Reims, which is known for its Pinot Noir, the famous 1er Cru Village of Villers-Marmery is a Chardonnay island ( 95% of Chardonnay vines). Its particular grapes are the result of a major clay-limestone soil and a global East/South-East orientation, creating Champagne with mineral and citrus fruit aromas.

Within this small Village, different plot identities coexist, just to mention there is a plot planted on a red soil ( decalcification clays & iron oxides), which creates more structured mineral wines. The sun orientation plays a role as well : she feels like the plots east-west exposed ones have stronger and more powerful aromas. The combination of different features make each plot unique and challenging.

This is the cuvee that won the competition of Les Jeunes Talents du Champagne, only 410 bottles produced.
